In addition to Democracy in Chains (2016), Nancy MacLean (History, Duke) is the author of the award-winning books Freedom is Not Enough: the Opening of the American Workplace (2008) and Behind the Mask of Chivalry: the Making of the Second Ku Klux Klan (1995). She is a past president of the Labor and Working-Class History Association.

This event is part of “Food, Finance, and American Politics,” a series of UCSB talks and workshops sponsored by the Center for the Study of Work, Labor, and Democracy; and the Policy History Program.
