Maisnam Arnapal is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Feminist Studies. He is interested in Indigenous feminism, and queer and trans* studies with special focus on Northeast India (Asia), which lies at the intersection of India, China, and Myanmar.
He belongs to the Indigenous Meitei community of Manipur, Northeast India. A survivor of an ongoing armed conflict in his homeland, he looks at issues of gender justice, conflict, citizenship, sexual economy, and migration pertaining to the Indigenous peoples of the region. As a public humanist, he aims to bring his academic training and professional skills to speak with different groups of people and to serve as a bridge between the Indigenous sexual and gender minorities of the region and the global discourse.
