Prof. Shedenova is a  founder of Gender Studies in Kazakhstan and an expert on the role of women in the Kazakhstan labor force.  She has participated in a wide array of programs focused on gender in Germany, Ukraine, Hungary, United Kingdom, and India. Professor Shedenova is currently a visiting scholar at the Institute of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies, University of California, Berkeley.
