IHC Research Scholar: Bianca Brigidi

Bianca Brigidi holds a PhD in History from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her research dissertation analyzes the California Native American rebellions in the 18th and 19th centuries.Brigidi’s work marries folklore, contemporary ethnographic data, historical data, and interdisciplinary explorations of intercultural violence. As a visiting scholar at the IHC, Brigidi is revising her manuscript to publish as a book entitled Regimes of Power: Indians, the Formation of Networks, and Resistance in California History (1769-1829).

Currently, she teaches the Brazilian Portuguese Language and Culture at the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and she works as a tutor for students of English courses at the Santa Barbara City College.
