Word Magazine honored with awards at national conference

The Associated Collegiate Press recognized Word Magazine, a project of Isla Vista Arts, with multiple honors at its national conference in San Francisco this March. Most notably, Word Magazine received fourth place nationally in the Feature Magazine category, reflecting the collaborative efforts of the journalists and artists in the Word Magazine course taught through the IHC.

Additional individual distinctions were awarded in Magazine Design. Fourth-year student Anita Flores received fourth place for “Nudibranchs in the Santa Barbara Channel” and eighth place for “Worshipping the Weekend.” Karen Su was also recognized in the same category, earning tenth place for her design for “The Five Percent.”
