Yan Liu

Yan Liu is a Ph.D. student in the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultural Studies. His current research traces the circulation of ideas riding on the wave of global media circuits consisting of books, films, radios, and records from the late 1950s onward, with a view to unpacking the media, historical, ideological, and geopolitical confluence that has collectively forged the cultural arena in China of the 1980s. As a poet and publisher, Yan was inducted into the Fellowship of the Royal Society of Arts in 2015. Recently, Yan was invited to join as an anonymous reviewer of the journal Foreign Literature Studies, for which prestigious scholars such as Harold Bloom, J. Hillis Miller, and Charles Bernstein have served on the editorial board.
