Paid IHC Project Opportunity for Humanities Graduate Student | Deadline Thursday, Dec 15 2016

The Interdisciplinary Humanities Center seeks a graduate student to work with humanities center faculty and staff leadership to design and implement a communications project that consists of creating a database of faculty on campus who are involved in publicly-engaged teaching and research. The project will be an information-gathering process that will also support faculty as they reflect on the ways they approach their work, and it will serve as a resource to faculty for identifying prospective community partners.

Through this project, the graduate student will apply and hone research, writing and analytical skills, by learning how to develop appropriate communications content and strategies, work with colleagues to craft project descriptions and goals, and evaluate the impact of communications activities.

Along with two IHC staff members, the graduate student will attend a workshop, “Speaking of Humanities,” on Thursday, January 26, and Friday, January 27, 2017, at UC Humanities Research Institute.

Compensation: $23.00 per hour for a total of 80 hours.

Please send a letter to IHC Director Susan Derwin (derwin@ihc.ucsb.edu) by December 15, 2016, indicating your interest in and qualifications for undertaking this project.
