The Interdisciplinary
Humanities Center provides cost-sharing to leverage
extramural research grants for projects in the humanities,
arts, and humanistic social sciences. Only projects
that are interdisciplinary in nature are eligible for
such support. Grant proposals for which IHC cost-sharing
is requested should be submitted through the IHC, and
the IHC shall administer all extramural research grants
for which it provides cost-sharing.
Cost-sharing requests should be made in
a memo to the IHC Director, specifying the amount of cost-sharing
requested and its intended use (e.g. research assistance,
research expenses, travel, summer salary, etc.), with a copy
of the extramural grant application (including a detailed
budget and the curriculum vitae of the faculty member(s) involved
in the project) attached. There are no deadlines, but requests should
be made no later than the extramural grant application due
date. Requests are reviewed by a faculty committee once every
quarter during the academic year. The amount of award varies,
generally with a maximum of $3,000 for 12-month projects and
$10,000 for 3-year projects.
