Morton Horwitz is Charles Warren Professor of American Legal History at Harvard Law School, where he teaches Torts and American Legal History. He received a Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1964 and an LL.B. from Harvard Law School in 1967. An eminent legal historian, Horowitz is the author of many books and articles, including, “The Transformation of American Law, 1780-1860” (Harvard University Press, 1977), “The Transformation of American Law 1870-1960: The Crisis of Legal Orthodoxy” (Oxford University Press, 1992) and “The Warren Court and the Pursuit of Justice,” (Hill & Wang, 1998). He has also co-edited (with William Fisher III and Thomas Reed) “American Legal Realism” (Oxford University Press, 1993).
