This presentation will explore the history of theology and Catholic
liberation thought in Latin America since the 1960s as well as the
influence of liberation theology on this side of the border.
Dr. Blase Bonpane is Director of the Office of the Americas in Los
Angeles is a peace advocate group that monitors human rights issues
in Latin America and Professor of Political Science, Philosophy, and
Humanities at Los Angeles Harbor College. He is the author of Guerrillas
of Peace and the Central American Revolution and Guerrillas
of Peace on the Air. In 1984 the City of Los Angeles awarded a
Certificate of Commendation to Blase Bonpane for his pursuit of peace
in Central America.
