The University of California Institute for Research
in the Arts (UCIRA), the only organization representing
the arts on UC’s nine general campuses, has moved
its offices to UCSB. UCIRA provides grants to arts faculty
and students to support projects with the potential
for significant artistic and cultural impact. The deadline
for proposals is March 1, 2006. On Wednesday January
18th, campus co-directors Kim Yasuda (Art Department)
and Dick Hebdige (Art/Film Studies; Director, UCSB IHC)
will host an informational meeting addressing the new
priorities of the Institute, the new funding categories,
and details of the first annual UCIRA ‘State of
the Arts’ conference which will be held at UCSB
May 19-20, 2006. Time for questions regarding the institute
and its new programs with follow the presentation. RSVP
