CONFERENCE: Interdisciplinary Studies in Popular Music Conference Saturday, January 31, 8 AM-6 PM – Sunday February 1, 8 AM-4 PM / FREE Locations: Saturday: The Department of Music, Geiringer Hall & Room 1145, UCSB Sunday: The McCune Conference Room, 6020 HSSB, UCSB Organized by the Center for the Interdisciplinary Study of Music (CISM) this conference brings together graduate students from a range of disciplines and schools to discuss topics like popular music and subcultures; “global pop" vs. popular music of the globe; regional/temporal definitions of the popular music sphere; popular music and the state; popular music's audiences; "unpopular" popular music; micro-aesthetics and creative listening and popular music in ritual, in exchange and at work.
