![]() ![]() Presented by the IHC Catholic Studies Research Focus Group Monday, February 3 / Noon / Free McCune Conference Room / 6020 Humanities and Social Sciences Building Pax Christi is the leading Catholic peace organization in the United States. It has consistently worked to influence U.S. foreign policy on the issues of peace and to present a Catholic moral and theological perspective concerning peace in the world. It is in particular concerned today about the Bush administration's confrontational policies toward Iraq. This lecture will present the history of Pax Christi and the moral issues surrounding U.S. foreign policy on Iraq. Fr. Chris Ponnet and Patricia Krommer are the co-directors of Pax Christi in Los Angeles. Fr. Ponnet is the pastor of St. Camillus Pastoral Care Center at the Los Angeles/USC Medical Center in Los Angeles and has been involved for many years in human rights work and protests against U.S. policies in Central America and the Middle East. Patricia Krommer is a Sister of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Los Angeles Province and has worked for many years in human rights advocacy including working with the UN Commission on Human Rights and the UN Commission on Refugees.
