Erased Faces, the latest novel by Chicana writer Graciela Limón, traces the journey of a Chicana from Los Angeles to Chiapas, Mexico where she becomes involved in the Zapatista revolt and learns about the history of the indigenous struggle for survival in the centuries since the Spanish conquest. The novel interweaves issues of gender, class, and race in a transborder context. It has recently been awarded the Gustavus Myers Outstanding Book Award (Boston). Among Limón’s other novels are In Search of Bernabe (1993), The Memories of Ana Calderon (1994), Song of the Hummingbird (1996), and The Day of the Moon (1999).

Graciela Limón will read and discuss Erased Faces, and Latin American Studies professors with expertise on the social movements and events narrated in the novel will comment on the book.
