This panel discussion brings together top researchers and leaders from the University of California state-wide system including leadership of UCTV, the national satellite channel of the UC system, as well as broadcast and digital media entrepreneurs, community media coordinators, new media researchers, and audience members to present their experiences, innovations and visions for the future of multi-media digital news and cultural networks.
Forrest Sawyer will begin the evening with an overview. Sawyer has 25 years of anchoring and reporting experience with ABC, NBC, and CBS News. He has covered numerous major breaking and investigative stories, including every United States military engagement since 1972, as well as the fall of the Soviet Union. Sawyer is the recipient of seven national Emmy awards and the prestigious George Foster Peabody award. He also works with corporate, government, and non-profit organizations to develop multi-platform communications strategies that take advantage of the emerging digital world, and speaks to groups around the country about the information revolution. After his presentation Mr. Sawyer will then moderate several panel discussions featuring outstanding media professionals, researchers, and UC leaders. www.cftnm.ucsb.edu
