NOTE TIME CHANGE
Although the practice of indulgences was not widely
documented, they were of great importance in the total
religious and devotional experience of late medieval
England. Robert Swanson, Professor of Medieval History
at the University of Birmingham and author of Religion
and Devotion in Europe, c.1215 to c.1515 (CUP 1995),
discusses devotional indulgences, their complex textual
genealogies and how they contributed to devotional
practices in England between 1300 and 1540.
