TALK: New Playwrights and New Acting Paradigms in Argentina

Focusing on some key figures of today’s Argentinian scene, this presentation will explore how the “theatre of the image” practiced during the 80’s has been replaced by performing practices that re-localize the work of the actor and the director at the center of dramatic production. Using Lacanian concepts and emphasizing the relations between theatre and social transformation, we will see how some fundamental tools like “character” and “text” are being dislodged and re-defined.
