Professor Wickham's interests are in early medieval
Italy; settlement patterns in medieval Italy, including
archaeology. He is currently writing a book on the socio-economic
history of post-Roman Europe and the Mediterranean,
400-800, a comparative analysis of all the post-Roman
regions from Denmark to Egypt, using documents, narratives
and archaeology.
This event is of interest to historians and scholars
of law, conflict resolution, Medieval and Renaissance
Italy, and Italian culture. Professor Wickham is one
of the editors of one of the premiere journals of History
and culture, Past and Present. Funding is also pending
form the Law and Society program.
