The media landscape in the US and abroad is rapidly
being reconfigured by technological developments, new
regulatory policies, political and ideological conflicts,
cultural trends, economic forces and globalization.
This conference addresses widespread concerns about
media concentration and the effects of conglomeration
on creativity, competition and democratic access to
the marketplace of ideas. Join media scholars, government
and industry experts for a one-day conference on the
current state of media ownership. Please see www.cftnm.ucsb.edu/conference
for all conference and location details.
Sponsored by The Arthur N. Rupe Chair in the Social
Effects of Mass Communication in the Department of Communication,
the Center for Film, Television and New Media and the
Critical Issues in America Endowment, College of Letters
& Science.
