Professor Inwood has published widely on Stoicism, including
his first book, Ethics and Human Action in Early
Stoicism (Oxford 1985). This year will see the
appearance of Reading Seneca: Stoic Philosophy at
Rome (Oxford). In the following year, Seneca:
Selected Letters will appear in the Clarendon
Later Ancient Philosophy Series. Professor Inwood
was the editor for the recently published Cambridge
Companion to the Stoics (2003). In addition, his
co-edited publications include the following: Hellenistic
Philosophy: Introductory Readings, with L.P. Gerson
(Hackett, 1988, expanded 1997), The Poem of Empedocles
(Toronto, 1992, expanded 2001), Assent and Argument:
Studies in Cicero's Academic Books, with Jaap Mansfeld
(Brill, 1997) and Hellenistic and Early Modern Philosophy,
with Jon Miller (Cambridge, 2003). Professor Inwood's
honors include his 1994 election as Fellow of the Royal
Society of Canada and 2000 appointment as Canada Research
Chair in Ancient Philosophy. He has held fellowships
from the National Humanities Centre and Stanford University
and is currently a Fellow of the Center for Advanced
Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford.
