The Latina/o community continues to grow in
diversity across cultural lines. What are the ways in
which Latina/o playwrights explore cross cultural communication
in their plays through language, theme, character, setting,
collaboration and production? US Latina/o writing for
the theatre is categorized more and more by its distinctly
baroque embrace of languages. While certainly still
a part of Latina/o writing, issues of identity and immigration
and representations of folklore are less foregrounded
now than in previous generations of writers. Two of
the most active and nationally admired Latina playwrights
today will address these and other topics relevant to
Latina/o theatre in general and their own work in particular.
A conversation not to be missed!
