A day-long conference, “Humanities@UCSB: A 21st
Century Project,” will be held at the Interdisciplinary
Humanities Center on April 27, 2005. The program of
three panels is planned as part of the campus’
follow-up to a 2004 report issued by the Association
of American Universities, “Reinvigorating the
Humanities: Enhancing Research and Education on Campus
and Beyond.” Panelists will address the topics:
“Humanities at the Global Interface,” “Action
Research: Partnership and Community Outreach,”
and “Collaboration across the Humanities, Arts,
and Sciences.” Faculty and graduate students are
encouraged to attend and participate in the discussions,
which will consider emergent trends in humanities research
and teaching at UCSB and discuss new initiatives and
paradigms for research, teaching and funding. Conference
materials and information available at www.hfa.ucsb.edu/AAU.htm.
