PANEL: The Rocket Four: Artist Books Today

In 1997, four publishers of artist books, known as “The Rocket Four,” agreed to organize a tour of exhibitions of their work on four continents. Their limited edition artist books and collaborations—on display at the Contemporary Arts Forum, in Santa Barbara until May 30—is the subject of this round-table conversation. “The Rocket Four publishers” are: Luis Angel Parra (Arte Dos Gráfico, Bogotá, Colombia); Hank Hine (Limestone Press, Tampa, FL), Gunnar Kaldewey (Kaldewey Press, New York, NY); and Sandra Liddell Reese and UCSB's Harry Reese (Turkey Press, Isla Vista, CA). They will be joined in a panel discussion on “Artist Books Today,” by Marcia Reed, Head of Collection Development, Getty Research Institute; and Roberto Trujillo, Head & Curator of Special Collections, Stanford University Library. A reception for the artists will follow the question and answer period.
