CONFERENCE: America and the Reshaping of a New World Order: Normative Implications, Cultural Constraints
Friday-Saturday, April 23-24 / FREE
Corwin Pavilion, and McCune Conference Room, UCSB

There is much talk nowadays in the U.S. and elsewhere about America's desire to reshape world order. While this project in global governance has had a decidedly mixed reception, what is clear is the degree to which the influence of the USA's normative claims (ethical, legal, religious) depends on the figurative language in which those claims are couched. This conference examining the role of cultural factors in the framing of American aspirations to create a new world order, features keynote addresses by Ronald Steel and Richard Falk, and a participatory diorama on the global by renouned performance artist, Guillermo Gomez-Peña.
