Come join us for the first meeting of the Sound in the Arts (SitA) Research Focus Group. Internationally recognized artist Steve Roden will lead us in an informal discussion about issues that arise when using sound to create art. Steve Roden is a Los Angeles based artist whose work includes painting, drawing, sculpture, film/video, and sound. In his sound works, source materials such as objects, architectural spaces, and field recordings are abstracted and activated through humble electronics. The Sound in the Arts (SitA) Research Focus Group aims to provide both artists and scholars a forum to discuss issues related to sound and the arts. We seek to facilitate a cross-disciplinary dialogue about the use of sound in visual art, architecture, sculpture, experimental music practices, conceptual art, performance art, installation art, theatre, poetry, mixed media, computer technologies, dance, film, radio, soundscape, and sound art.

Sponsored by the IHC’s Sound in the Arts Research Focus Group, the College of Creative Studies, Art and Music
