The Chicana/o Graduate Student Colectiva de UCSB is
an organization promoting networking, retention, collaboration,
and professional development among self-identified
Chicana/o and other Latina/o graduate students at the
University of California, Santa Barbara.
The focus of this graduate student conference is “activist
scholarship”, an applied scholarship that not
only documents and analyzes the various issues facing
Chicana/o and other Latina/o communities, but is also
engaged with these communities in sharing knowledge
and creating strategies for collective empowerment
and social change.
Sponsored by the UC Committee on Latino Research,
UCSB Office of Campus Outreach Initiatives, affiliated
departments include: Education, Sociology, Chicana/o
Studies, Clinical, Counseling, School Psychology. This
conference is also sponsored by the IHC’s Graduate
Collaborative award program
