The IHC research focus group in Modernist Studies
will hold its quarterly graduate student symposium.
Three UCSB Ph.D. candidates will present work relating
to their dissertations. Each presentation will be twenty
minutes, followed by discussion. Bill Carter will present
an economic and psychoanalytical reading of Goethe’s
Faust II, Suzanne Braswell will speak on representations
of dance in 19th century French literature, and Carolyn
Butcher will explore the literary intersections of mythic
Irishness and the entry of the Irish nation into the
European community.
