Are American Workers Protected by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights?
A Discussion with Activists and Academics

December 2 / 4 PM / Free
McCune Conference Room 6020 HSSB

December 10 is International Human Rights Day, commemorating the anniversary of the ratification of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948, which guarantees the right of people in every nation to join unions and bargain with their employer. The effort to organize giant corporations like Wal-Mart and the strike currently under way by 70,000 Southern California grocery workers help us gauge the degree to which the Universal Declaration holds sway in the United States.
