This first installment of the Music, Text, and the Spoken Word Series will feature readings of Sappho's poetry in Greek and in translation; and readings of ancient and modern Indian poetry, with musical accompaniment. Dorota Dutsch and Andrea Fishman (UCSB Classics), Hom Nath Upadhyaya (visiting Nepalese tabla master, UCSB Music), and UCSB Middle East Ensemble.
