Prof. Jill Harries is an internationally recognized expert on the subject of ancient Roman law. Her books include The Theodosian Code: Studies in the Imperial Law of Late Antiquity (London, 1993), Sidonius Apollinaris and the Fall of Rome, AD 407-485 (Oxford, 1994) and the magisterial Law and Empire in Late Antiquity (Cambridge, 1999). She currently is Head of the School of Clssics at St Andrews University, Scotland and a Visiting Professor of Classics at Emory University in Atlanta. The talk is co-sponsored
