Ronald J. Mellor is Distinguished Professor of History at UCLA, where he has been teaching Greek and Roman history since 1976. Prof. Mellor’s research centers on ancient religion and Roman historiography. His books include Thea Rome: The Goddess Roma in the Greek World (1975), Tacitus (1993), and The Roman Historians (1999). In connection with his award-winning work with teachers in the California History-Social Science Project, he served as coeditor of The World in Ancient Times (Oxford University Press), a series of nine volumes for young readers.
