Chaturanga, based on the novel by Rabindranath Tagore, is Suman Mukhopadhyay’s second feature film. It is being screened at this year’s Montreal World Film Festival and Sao Paolo International Film Festival.

Suman Mukhopadhyay has worked in film and television since 1996 and has directed a number of short films, television movies, and documentaries. His first feature film, Herbert, won numerous awards, including the Indian Government Award for Best Bengali Feature Film, Dhaka International Film Festival Audience Award, Lankesh Award for Best Debut Director, and Bengal Film and Journalist Association Award for Most Promising Director. Mukhopadhyay is currently working on the film The Hungry Tide based on the novel by Amitabh Ghosh. He is also one of the most respected young theater directors working in India at present, having undertaken productions ranging from European drama to major adaptations of Bengali masterpieces.
