Santa Barbara Housing and Transportation
Information:
The conference headquarters on the UCSB campus is the Interdisciplinary
Humanities Center (805-893-3907), but lodging will be at the Best
Western South Coast Inn, 5620 Calle Real, in Goleta, about two miles
from the campus and airport. Call them at 1-800-350-3614 to book your
room. Mention the UCSB Capitalism and Its Culture Conference and you
will get the discount rate. Do this as soon as possible so that we
can secure additional rooms if needed. Transportation to and from
the South Coast Inn will be provided. (We are asking individuals to
book their own rooms since many California participants will need
only one or two nights, while those coming in from the East might
need three).
Please also book your flight into Santa Barbara. These are convenient
and at this point we do not expect the United Airlines bankruptcy
to be disruptive.
Retain your receipts and we will make every effort to reimburse you
for a high proportion of your costs. However, the response to this
conference has been large and we have therefore exhausted our preliminary
travel budget. So if you can get funding from your host institution,
please do so, This will help offset the travel costs of many of the
graduate students, whose funding is far more limited.
